The Project
Approached by the modular building company, Merit Construction, we were asked to come up with a dry brick design that suited their modular ethos for the new Elective Hub at Solihull hospital.
Using the Eurobond Rainspan composite cladding panels, which ensure both the fire and thermal aspects of the façade were taken care of, we utilised the TI Aeorbrik ‘dry joint’ brick slip system, directly fixed to the composite panels, to achieve the required ‘wet laid’ brickwork designs and feature courses.
Intricate feature brick bays along with double height solider courses proved tricky but not impossible with the system and coupled with the glazing elements integrated seamlessly into the façade with out in house design, fabrication and installation teams controlling all aspects.
The dry aspect of the design allowed installation to continue whatever the weather, and with 2024 being pretty much a wash out, this certainly helped speed up proceedings allowing the façade to progress at the same pace as the internal modular construction.
Completing late 2024 this ‘state of the art’ example in both medicine and construction will set the benchmark for future developments.
