The Project

Rolling on from the successful completion of the Solasta Riverside and Candleriggs projects with Graham Construction, our team moved across the city to the University Quarter to collaborate on this new ;state of the art’ student accommodation building for IQ.

The facade was primarily traditional brick construction, however there were large expanses of aluminium cladding – this looked like a job for our newly designed and CWCT Sequence B tested Prometheus ‘Discrete Fix’ Aluminium Cladding System. With all the elements fabricated ‘in house’ in our Teesside fabrication plant, this allowed far more flexibility and speed on site when dealing with the inevitable tolerance issues. Replacement panels were available in days rather than weeks which allowed us to keep ‘on program’ and allowed our client to remove access equipment to plan – ultimately leading to fewer delays (its construction there are always delays!), a timely handover and a satisfied end user.

Along with the aluminium cladding, the ground floor areas received a TI Total Stone rainscreen facade – adding a real touch of class and in keeping with the traditional buildings in and around the Glasgow area.

The buildings was ‘capped’ off with the ‘Titan Olympus’ Coping system – a system designed with full adjustment, increased load capacity and can withstand the rigors of the Glasgow weather.

The building was completed and handed over in June 2025 ready for students in September.
