The Project

Extending the original Cleveland College of Art & Design (CCAD), ESH Construction engaged us to bring our cladding expertise to both a new build element and a refurbishment.

Located on the corner of a busy street in Hartlepool close to the marina and the port the client wanted something that would stand out from the crowd and by selecting and by selecting the Rockpanel Chameleon product they certainly did that. This allows the building to change colour when viewed from different angles and different light conditions.

Coupled with additional grooves within the panels the architect achieved what appears to be numerous panel joints when in essence only a few were required.

All secured to the building with the Rockpanel ‘secret fix’ system the removal of any visible fixings allows the colour transition to flourish and certainly does achieve the required effect. Unfortunately sunny days are few and far between in Hartlepool!

The building was completed mid-2017 and now is a solid addition to the Cleveland College of Art & Design and is soon to be joined by the Northern School of Arts Film School.
